Sir William Borlase's Grammar School

Borlase 400 Campaign

In 2019, we set out a clear vision to enhance, expand, and modernise key facilities at Borlase to better serve the needs of our growing student body and prepare our school for the demands of the 21st century.

This vision began with the creation of a state-of-the-art Sports Campus, which included the addition of a new Sports Hall—the final building we were able to add to our limited site. The campus also features netball/tennis courts, fitness suite, Football pitch, Sports Science classes, changing spaces and a new AstroTurf pitch, providing our students with top-quality facilities for sports and outdoor activities.

Building on the success of the Sports Campus, we were able to further enhance our school with a range of new specialist facilities. These include dedicated peripatetic music rooms, a recital room, a new Computer Science Lab, and a state-of-the-art Dermal Science Lab with a prep room.

We also focused on the well-being of our students by creating Pastoral Key Stage rooms, a wellness hub, and counselling rooms—ensuring that our students have the support and resources they need to thrive, both academically and personally.

The final phase of the Borlase 400 Campaign successfully secured the funds required to create our new Canteen, featuring a fully upgraded kitchen and an expanded refectory, as well as the stunning Centenary Hall, which includes a café and modern study spaces. A highlight of the Centenary Hall is its beautiful Borlase 400 stained glass windows, which commemorate our school's 400-year legacy.
