One Man Two Guvnors Senior Play

One Man Two Guvnors  a hilarious smash hit!

One Man Two Guvnors was a joy to be a part of, and I feel I speak for all involved in it that it came out just as we had hoped: spectacularly! All of the actors, be that the principal ensemble or the main company, performed to their absolute best, and made sure the audience were entertained and regularly laughing throughout! All actors had a challenge to form the colourful characters that made up the play and they did without a flaw. Their faces, their gait, their accents: they all amalgamated into hilarious characters that never failed to garner a laugh.

In this production, there were plenty of opportunities for all year groups involved to achieve a standard of acting proficiency that struck the audience with awe. Throughout the play, the ensemble all carried out their actions with pantomimic talent, and it was so fascinating to see the intricacies of their movements and the stories they created through mime alone.

When we were rehearsing, everyone built upon each other and the results were marvellously thrilling. Both of our directors pushed us and worked around the script to eke out gags that improved the performance tenfold. The actors produced a wonderful rendition of the script and, in my opinion, made it better than the source material. The improvised bits and the copious amounts of slapstick made me laugh even after seeing them many times. The whole process was a splendid experience and I thoroughly adored learning of Commedia Dell'arte and all it has to offer.

During rehearsals, the tech team were working with admirable industry to make the play presentable. The set designs were outstanding, and their usage of lights was awe-inspiring. Many of the actors’ costumes were curated by the lovely team, and I loved all of the designs.  With Mrs Holden leading them, they all helped our play behind the scenes and between them, cleaning cream pie off of curtains!

All in all, the whole production was phenomenal, and I am sure everyone involved would say the same. While hiccups may have occurred and mistakes may have been made, it was our Borlasian resilience and our theatrical family that made sure we could still be our best. Thank you to all the staff that worked really hard to give this opportunity to us, including Mr Tekerian, Miss Rayner and Mrs Holden.
