Royal Opera House trip for Tech Theatre students
Tech Theatre students have opportunity to attend event hosted by the Royal Opera House
On 11th November, the Year 13 tech theatre class attended Theatre Craft, an event hosted by the Royal Opera House and other theatres around the West End. The event included a marketplace with different stalls by production arts companies and universities, with many industry professionals available to share their knowledge and experience.
The event also brought together other theatres around the West End to deliver interactive workshops, showcasing the variety of job roles and opportunities within the production arts industry. Workshops included backstage tours of The Lion King, talks on automation and ‘Introduction to wigs and wardrobe’, from the wardrobe teams in Les Miserable and Hamilton. My personal favourite workshop which I attended was the ‘Introduction to Gore Makeup’, as it was an amazing opportunity to consolidate some of my self-taught knowledge from working on school productions, as well as learning more about industry-standard materials and equipment.
